Behind the scenes at Assisi House as we roll through transitions and get ready to Strike Out Homelessness
Dear friends, volunteers, supporters, and community partners,
We know it’s been a little quiet from us lately — and we want you to know that our silence has been for good reason. The past few months at Assisi House have been a time of transition, reflection, and renewed momentum, and we’re excited to share a quick update on where we are and what’s ahead.
Staff Changes & New Beginnings
This year, we said goodbye to three wonderful staff members who moved on to new opportunities. We’re so proud of them and wish them continued success — but their departures naturally slowed our ability to move new residents into open rooms in our houses.
The good news: in September we welcomed two new Resident Support Specialists who are already doing fantastic work. Their energy and commitment are helping us get back to full stride and renew our direct support for residents.
And now, we’re thrilled to share that Assisi House has welcomed a new Executive Director — Keith Deisner. Keith will join the team full time on December 1, 2025, so expect to hear from him soon!
Behind the Scenes
In addition to welcoming new team members, we’ve been busy assessing and beginning to update our internal records, grant reporting, and operational systems to strengthen our foundation for the future.
It’s been one of those seasons where “life be lifing,” as they say — but the work has been deeply worthwhile. These improvements are helping us move forward more efficiently, so we can focus on what matters most: our residents.
Why This Work Matters More Than Ever
We’re entering a challenging time for affordable housing and community support. Across the U.S., millions of low-income families are facing increased financial strain due to the loss of pandemic-era healthcare subsidies and proposed cuts to programs like SNAP and other social supports.
Recent reporting from Reuters and the Associated Press shows that food-assistance delays and funding shortfalls could affect millions. When essential safety nets weaken, the risk of homelessness rises — which makes Assisi House’s mission all the more vital.
