We are proud to recognize and celebrate Trevor Holland, a longtime volunteer with Assisi House, who is stepping back from his volunteer work to focus on personal and family priorities.
After retiring from the business world, Trevor has devoted his time and energy to social justice and community service, becoming a steadfast advocate for unhoused and vulnerable neighbors in St. Louis over the past 20 years.
Trevor has been part of Assisi House since the very beginning. Through his early work with St. Louis Winter Outreach, he was one of the first volunteers to drive shelter guests to Assisi House 1 (“Queens”) when it opened in 2014.
Since then, he has supported nearly every aspect of our mission—especially fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations—helping ensure Assisi House’s financial sustainability through its first ten years.
Trevor also quietly built some of the tools that supported our growth: he purchased and established AssisiHouse.org so that people could make online donations, designing the original website himself (“It was terrible,” he jokes, “but it served the purpose until someone who knew what they were doing improved it”). He also secured our first donor management system, which we relied on for many years.
When asked about his favorite memory, Trevor recalled the night he helped bring the first residents to Queens:
“I’ll never forget the look on their faces when they sat together in the common room and Jerry told them about their private rooms. They looked stunned.”
Trevor’s humility, humor, and deep compassion have been a steady light for our community. His years of service—both visible and behind the scenes—have shaped Assisi House in lasting ways.
Trevor, thank you for your faith in this work from day one, for your countless hours of service, and for your unwavering belief in the dignity and worth of every person. You will always be part of the Assisi House family.
