Our Houses

Queens | 2014

Queens started as a winter shelter in 2014, housing 27 men from November - March. The building is a former convent of a closed Catholic parish now owned by a small congregation, North City Church of Christ. This house started a pattern of repurposing vacant convents and rectories to become affordable housing over the next several years.

Baden House opened in 2017 with 16 women in the former convent of Our Lady of the Holy Cross Parish in the Baden neighborhood. We lease the building from the parish, and while we were renovating the building, the parish led a successful effort to gain signatures from the immediate neighborhood in order to obtain our occupancy permit from the City of St. Louis. We have continued to enjoy a cooperative partnership with the parish, as we operate the facility as permanent housing for 10 women.

Utah House is another partnership with a Catholic parish, St. Pius V., which opened in 2018. We lease their former convent building, again after a successful signature petition effort led by the parishioners and neighbors in the Tower Grove East neighborhood. We opened as a shelter for 16 men, and in Mid-March of 2019 converted to permanent, affordable living for 14 men.

Durant | 2019

Durant is a former rectory on the same campus as our Queens location. After a successful 5 years in the neighborhood, we were able to secure signatures to occupy this second building as affordable housing. In 2019 we welcomed 17 men during the shelter period. In March of 2020 (just before COVID-19) we transitioned to permanent housing with rooms for 13 men.

Spring | 2022

After a 3-year hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, we were happy to open Spring House. We took time to plan for the future and think strategically about our next houses. As a result, we decided to purchase our first building. We bought this building from Gateway Housing First where they housed 4 men. Through our strong partnership with North Grand Neighborhood Services, we added an additional 6 bedrooms, bringing the total occupancy to 10 men.
