Almost as soon as our residents move in, they refer to Assisi House as home. This is because when we furnish our homes it doesn't mean just tables and chairs.

Assisi Houses are lovingly furnished to feel like home.

Assisi 1, 4, & 5 are all operated by Assisi House. Go to the navigation bar, under "The houses" to read more about each house. Both Assisi 2 and Assisi 3 were opened and operated during the shelter period by Assisi House. Assisi House also  converted the buildings into permanent living residencies. As planned throughout the development phase, Assisi 2 & 3 are now operated by another not-for-profit.

We are now in the planning stages for Assisi 6

The Assisi House Board has approved the opening of Assisi 6, a house that will accommodate 16-18 men through next winter and 13 men after conversion to permanent occupancy in the Spring of 2020. We have agreed on lease terms with North City Church of Christ for the former rectory building located on the same campus as Assisi 1 in the Mark Twain neighborhood near I-70 and Kingshighway. Currently we are in the process of gathering signatures to meet the City's requirement for a rooming house occupancy permit.

Assisi House is not a religious organization. However, all three of our houses are vacated convents and therefore are ideal for our purposes. Furthermore, in the case of our most recent house, a vacated convent owned by St. Pius V Parish on South Grand, the acquisition and conversion of the building to house previously homeless persons gave the congregational members an opportunity to serve this population and they embraced the opportunity wholeheartedly.
